Cristo Rey Tampa Salesian High School students are back on campus!
Cristo Rey Tampa welcomed seventy-six new students in our sixth year, including the largest freshman class since the inaugural year. With more than 190 students, the Cristo Rey Tampa team hit the ground running and seized the opportunity to enjoy the entire student body returning to campus.
Teachers and staff dancing with clappers, waving posters, and moving their feet to a Latin beat greeted students and ushered them into the new year. There was so much energy and excitement that everyone forgot about the first day jitters. “Today was a fantastic start to the ‘21-‘22 school year for our Cristo Rey Tampa family,” said President Scott Morreale.
The day started with Convocation in Mary Help of Christians Church that brought greetings from President Morreale and Fr. Franco, Director of Mission at Mary Help of Christians. After sharing a few student updates, Principal Torano and Assistant Principal Davidson guided students to classes while teachers and staff gave students their schedules.
Teachers didn’t waste any time acclimating students to Cristo Rey Tampa and then launched right into what they do best –teaching! The next four weeks are the teacher’s only opportunity to have students five days a week for instruction. As of September 3, Corporate Work Study Draft Day, students will venture out to become student workers with our Corporate Work Study Partners one day a week and in classes four days a week. In the meantime, students will learn the Cristo Rey way and prepare for work that begins in four weeks.
We wish all students a successful school year and want to give a shoutout to all new Cristo Rey Tampa families, teachers, and staff.
Go Panthers!
