COVID-19 and Corporate Work Study Program Requirements

Update 10.12.2021

Cristo Rey Parents/Guardians:

The Department of Labor Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is drafting a rule that will require all employers with 100 or more employees to ensure their workforce is fully vaccinated or require any workers who remain unvaccinated to produce a negative test result weekly before coming to work. In addition, OSHA will issue an Emergency Temporary Standard (ETS) to implement this requirement. This requirement will impact over 80 million workers in private sector businesses.

What impact does this have on Cristo Rey Tampa? As companies employ our student workers, our Corporate Work Study Program must meet OSHA’s standards to remain compliant with the Department of Labor. Students employed for companies/agencies with 100 or more employees or for a company/agency that requires vaccines must comply. This does not affect all of our student placements, but our Corporate Work Study team is working with students whose Corporate Work Study placement has this requirement. If your child is not vaccinated or will not take the vaccine, they will be required to take a weekly COVID test at school before work. Corporate Work Study, Inc. (on behalf of Cristo Rey Tampa) will submit the test results to their Corporate Work Study employer.

While this ruling has not been implemented, we must plan accordingly so our students can continue working for their corporate work study employer and on the path to success. Below are resources for COVID-19 testing sites.

Promoting the safety and health of our school community is of the utmost importance. If you have any questions regarding your child’s corporate work study placement and the vaccine requirement, please contact Ms. Dixon tdixon@cristoreytampa.org or Mrs. Mountain kmountain@cristoreytampa.org
