Today, we introduce Cristo Rey Tampa Salesian High School’s first valedictorian and salutatorian. These two young men have worked tirelessly in the classroom and in their corporate work setting to achieve much success. They have studied, participated in review sessions, utilized resources, made time for service, and giving back. They are true ambassadors of the Salesian spirit, and we are forever grateful they chose to make Cristo Rey Tampa Salesian High School part of their family.

The 2020 Valedictorian is Jeremy Hurtado. Jeremy is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Manolo Hurtado of Tampa and attended Williams Middle Magnet School before joining Cristo Rey Tampa. While at Cristo Rey Tampa, Jeremy took a full AP (Advanced Placement) curriculum course load, and he took two dual enrollment courses during his senior year. Jeremy was a student worker at JP Morgan to fulfill his Corporate Work Study experience and active in Salesian Leadership Retreats. Jeremy is attending Rice University (Houston, Texas) as a Questbridge Scholar.

Questbridge is a national program that connects high-achieving, low-income high school seniors with full four-year scholarships to the nation’s top colleges. In 2019, there were 14,926 applicants, and Jeremy was one of 1,127 students matched with a prestigious school. This is quite an honor!

The 2020 Salutatorian is Jonathan Clesca. Jonathan is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Eddy Clesca of Temple Terrace, and he attended Corpus Christi Catholic School before joining Cristo Rey Tampa. While at Cristo Rey Tampa, Jonathan took a full AP (Advanced Placement) curriculum course load and was a student worker at BST Global, fulfilling his Corporate Work Study experience. He was an active member of the Student Government Association, played on the soccer team, and volunteered in the Tampa community. Jonathan is attending the University of Central Florida as a Florida Academic Scholar.

Congratulations to Jeremy and Jonathan on their academic accomplishments. We know they are destined for great things.
