Congratulations to José Bello Sanchez, ’23, on his acceptance to Harvard University Summer School – Secondary School Program.

José Bello Sanchez, ’23, has been accepted to Harvard University Summer School – Secondary School Program. This prestigious program is for students across the globe who want to challenge themselves in college-level academics and earn college credits.

This summer experience is perfect for a young man who has a passion for film and animation. José will spend June 20 to August 6 taking a 2D animation course and a fictional writing course with Harvard professors. While COVID has forced this program to be a virtual learning experience, José is still excited for what lies ahead. “I’ve always wanted to produce short, animated films or even a TV show, but first I need to learn the skills to do so,” shared José.

When not in class or studying, José will be creating 2D animated videos and films to practice what he has learned. He hopes to fine-tune his projects, enhancing his animations and transitions skills in anticipation of them appearing one day on the big screen.

José aspires to attend college at CalArts (California Institute of the Arts) or SCAD (The Savannah College of Art and Design) to continue studying animation.

José is the son of Mr. and Mrs. José Bello. He currently works at Zoo Tampa at Lowry Park as his Corporate Work Study placement. When he is not studying, he is active in Cristo Rey Tampa Campus Youth Ministry, Key Club, and the Student Government Association. José attended Boys Preparatory Academy – Franklin Middle Magnet School.

Congratulations, José!  We are so proud of your accomplishments and look forward to the stories you will tell us of your Harvard experience.  #CRTproud
