Today, Cristo Rey Tampa Salesian High School (CRT) kicked-off another tradition, a CEO Breakfast. CEOs of companies that partner with the CRT Corporate Work Study Program were invited to campus to meet new members of the leadership team and learn about program updates.
The Corporate Work Study Program (CWSP) is the signature component of a Cristo Rey Network education. Integrated with a four-year college preparatory curriculum, including AP and dual enrollment courses, the CWSP introduces students to entry-level professional work experience. The CEO and their team become mentors and are integral in building a pipeline of diverse, 21st-century talent.
Takiyah Dixon, Director of the Corporate Work Study Program, kicked-off the event with a welcome and introduced her colleague Karin Mountain the new Director of Corporate Relations. Mrs. Mountain shared her enthusiasm and passion for the new position and how she identified with the Cristo Rey mission. “I am a product of our mission, and as a result, I know how important your support is,” said Mrs. Mountain.
CRT’s new President Scott Morreale greeted the crowd and thanked guests for their unwavering support. Six months at the helm of leading the school, Morreale praised his staff for their hard work and perseverance. He also stressed the importance CWSP Partners have in a student’s life. “This is a unique opportunity for our kids. They go to school four days a week, and they are with you one day a week, and it is that one-day that they develop skills that are going to carry them not just through college but through the rest of their lives,” said Morreale.
The gathering today also focused on thanking CEOs for sharing their time and expertise with CRT students. “We want the CEO’s to know that their partnership and commitment are vital and important. A CEO’s commitment and support of our program mean more than just our students being able to work within their companies,” shared Ms. Dixon. With heartfelt thanks, the event drew to a close, and guests were reminded to “save the date” for the Annual CWSP Partner Appreciation Awards event.
